The Chakri Dynasty, founded in 1782 by King Rama I, moved the capital to Bangkok and remains Thailand’s ruling house today. The monarchy has historically unified the nation, with figures like King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) modernizing Siam in the 19th century, abolishing slavery and reforming governance while maintaining cultural traditions.
